Hi everyone! I’ve been traveling, and it’s been great, and I’m back now.

Traveling is one of those things that make you think, and by the time you’re done thinking you’re just stunned at how worldly you are and how nobody else understands you anymore because you’re just so deep because of your experiences. No, that didn’t happen to me. Traveling made me realize how much I like to draw, and how much I missed my stxx, and how I should really give them names so it don’t sound like I’m talking about something in my pants.

Names!
Was thinking of This and That, or Eighteen and Nineteen, or Chris and Hemsworth, or Bat and Man. Or Monroe and Moroccan.
… Or not.

Other Layers of Doing The Art Thing.

Working backwards is sometimes the easier thing to do, but sometimes it just doesn’t make sense. You can un-puzzle a puzzle, thats a ton of fun but it doesn’t make sense unless you’re Destructo/wo/man. I made that up.

Trying to fuddleduddle with my website has me wanting to regress, and instead of giving you all a State!Of!The!Art! site where you can ooh and aww, I kinda want-

remember Geocities? I used to have a page, and an Angelfire page, and a Gurlpages page, and I had that running neko-cat marquee. Don’t worry I wont bring that back, just deciding to wallow in my desperation.

I’m working backwards in art, too. I never went to artschool unless you count the time I was 7 years old and went to “art school” where my job was to desecrate a forest worth of chartpaper with smellyfelts. I’m going to artschool soon, to finally learn the tools of my trade. 4 years of university taught me that note-taking isn’t neaRLY as pretty as doodling, but it’s not an art basis I can fall back on. I’m learning everything as I go and the humility is heartbreaking (Sorry, what’s ‘vector’ ?)

So in the midst of all this regression sulking, I decided to try finger painting again. After all, I never formally learned how. The gunky under my nails spurns would-be-suitors but it was fun while the regression-sulk lasted

I’d ask u all to give him a big welcome to the world of the imaginary, but that’s okay. He’s practicing the art of Caring Less about the inhabitants of a world that will never, ever understand him.

I’m going to be at the Urban Glamour Market Thursday (today), from 7-10. If you’re in Vancouver, swing by for some local artistry and be the first to pick up some super emo merchandise featuring Super Emo.

I know, my friend was all like, “Isn’t Super Emo kinda like Major Buzzkill?” and I was like, “Please go away.”

I’m hoping to feature my buttons at this market, there’ll be a small bucket of hand-drawn ones and one-offs that I can try to sell as a “gotta collect them all!!!!” marketing frenzy!

That may have worked too, if only my spending-the-whole-evening-trying-to-draw-Super-Emo hadn’t indeed made me identify with my sullen creation.

Everything sucks.

Remember he said he felt like a bit of butter spread over too much bread? I feel like that with the number of INTERNETY things I’ve signed up with.

I started using instagram lately. I feel like I’m cheating professional photography, by taking crappy pictures with my cell phone and then putting a predetermined filter on it. The account is mostly pictures of stuff I draw with pen/paper, pages and pages of love letters to Spike, and my dog doing indecent things. So that’s one more thing you can follow me on, if you miss your daily dose of chickenscratch.

Found one of my lone Valentines Day cards at the store, next to this fuzzy rendering of a sexually transmitted disease.

jokes, jokes. I salvaged the card from it’s STD haven and stuck it beside a bunch of on-sale Justin Bieber calendars.

In other news, I’ve been fiddling around with the site, trying to get it to look different and have a place where the BUY STUFF button actually goes somewhere I’ll continue to post blog posts as time goes, but the daily doodle has taken a hit. I’m trying to get a much needed new revamp done to the site, and it’s a small but steep learning curve! Sorry about the lack of consistency over the next few weeks as I get this sorted out, but 2011′s looking to be pretty snazzy!

So my iPhone camera’s been doing this weird thing where it shows right-side up on the phone and the second I upload it or email it somewhere, it is sideways. Like the rain.

Here’s my three Valentines Day card designs! So far they’re only on sale at the UBC Bookstore.

Some girl stepped on my heel today while I was walking into a building. My entire shoe came off, and when I turned around she said, “HEY, watch it!” and gave me a dirty stare. I was standing there on one leg trying not to teeter over and I was LIVID. I turned beet red and snarled at her retreating figure-

“WHAT!”

O’course, she was long gone by then and wearing headphones so it didn’t mean nothing. But I felt all right.

Ugh. I should have- I should just-

Fume Inhalation

So I have this suuuuuuuuuuuuuper old bottle of GAP nail polish in a goldy color. I’m surprised the bottle lasted so long in my drawer, though I should really thank a lucky star that it didn’t spontaneously combust.

I wanted to paint today but all the paint was in the garage so I used that instead.

Aren’t I amazing? The finished artwork is almost worth the noxious fumes I inhaled.

I have a sudden urge to pass out and puke now.

A Small Recap and Something To Gag About

Surprise! I’m alive and kicking you weakly in the shins!

My holidays were aiight. I hope your holidays were full of amazing sauce. The stxx hid in the closet all Christmas season ‘cus I had this power-trip thing going on and decided I was going to make them a bit neurotic. They miss you a lot and don’t regret leaving that closet.

So my mom got me these NAIL ART things from Japan, because she’s a darling and because people get the biggest urges to buy weird shit in Japan. They’re all 3D by the way, and we can all blame James Cameron for that.

I painted my nails after dinner so I could procrastinate digesting, and halfway through painting the middle finger of my left hand I decided I ought to use these James Cameron nail stickers. My brains envisioned a glorious evening of decorating my nails and then running down to show my mom, after which we would bond over her flattery of my nail artistry.

I used the flower ones. I agonized over where to place them on each nail, and was highly satisfied with the result.

It wasn’t until everything was dry and I decided to type this post, that I CRINGED awful badly when I peripheral visioned my nail art typing away at my keyboard.

It looked like- *retch warning* – little PUSTULES had grown on my nails. It was so disgusting I couldn’t even keep them on long enough for a picture, let alone run into the next room to gross out my sibling.

So instead of a beautiful, heartwarming article about how I wish all of you well and some bullshit about the weather, I end up typing this abomination about PUSTULES.

I’ll be back soon, in a less moronic fashion.
For now though – this nail polish remover smells like a party I need to crash.
